An iconic industrial scissor wall lamp designed by Curt Fischer for Midgard, Germany, during the 1930s. A landmark in twentieth-century lighting design, this authentic vintage lamp showcases Fischer's revolutionary articulated scissor mechanism, an innovation that established him as the inventor of the adjustable task lamp. Originally developed for factories and workshops, these lamps were mounted above machinery and workstations, allowing the light to be effortlessly extended and positioned exactly where needed. Midgard's groundbreaking designs also became closely associated with the Bauhaus movement, furnishing the studios and homes of influential figures including Walter Gropius, Wilhelm Wagenfeld, Marianne Brandt and Gunta Stölzl. This example has been expertly cleaned, fully rewired and PAT safety tested, and is fitted with an external cable and plug for immediate use. It can also be hardwired with concealed wiring for a cleaner architectural installation if preferred. Supplied with an E27 LED bulb, the lamp is presented in excellent vintage condition with light wear consistent with age and use, preserving its authentic industrial character. A highly collectible piece of Bauhaus and German industrial design, ideal for Industrial, Mid Century Modern and Contemporary interiors.
