This rare Archimede modular sideboard was designed by Hirozi Fukuoh for Gavina and produced in Italy circa 1960 to 1962. Crafted in richly figured rosewood, the long, low credenza features four sliding doors within an architectural structure of slender cylindrical uprights and narrow raised legs. Projecting posts, shaped upper rails and framed panels emphasize the construction, while the warm rosewood grain adds depth to its precise modernist form. Conceived as part of a modular storage system, Archimede reflects Gavina's experimental approach to early 1960s Italian furniture. Good vintage condition with scratches, marks, finish wear, minor spotting and age-related wear to the tracks, edges, posts and corners.
