Elegant pair of mid-1950s armchairs designed by Gustavo Pulitzer Finali for Cassina, newly upholstered in rich burgundy velvet. Pulitzer Finali, renowned for his post-war naval interiors and a contemporary of Gio Ponti and Nino Zoncada, used this model in the 1955 refit of the ocean-liner Homeric. The chairs feature an enveloping silhouette with flared arms, a generous seat, and a gently reclined back, reflecting Cassina’s exceptional ergonomic craftsmanship of the era. Tapered solid-walnut feet elevate the form and preserve the light, nautical character. The frames retain their original structure with well-sprung seats and balanced proportions, while minor patina to the wood is consistent with age.
