An elegant bentwood lounge chair designed by Jan Vaněk in Czechoslovakia during the 1930s, balancing Functionalist restraint with a sculptural, organic silhouette. The flowing wooden frame forms a continuous architectural profile, complemented by gracefully curved armrests and a relaxed low seating position. Woven straps across the seat and backrest give the chair an airy visual character while providing flexible support. This example has been fully restored, with the bentwood frame carefully refinished and polished and the woven straps newly replaced in a clean ivory tone sympathetic to the original design. Structurally sound and ready for everyday use, it is a refined example of interwar Czech Modernist furniture.
