This magnificent Louis XVI trumeau, crafted in the late 18th century, exemplifies the refined harmony and perfect proportions characteristic of the neoclassical era. Made entirely of solid oak, the piece features a richly figured briar veneer with delicate light wood inlay, accentuating its geometric design. The structure is ingeniously composed of three functional sections: a lower chest of drawers, a central folding writing desk, and a rare upper cabinet with doors—a distinguished alternative to the more common open display. Inside, the desk reveals multiple drawers, compartments, and a hidden secret drawer, showcasing masterful craftsmanship. The trumeau retains its original first patina, free from insect damage, and can be separated into two parts for ease of transport. A rare and museum-quality example of 18th-century French furniture in excellent original condition.
