This wonderful easy chair was designed by Frits Schlegel and produced by Fritz Hansen in Denmark circa the 1930s. The design reflects Schlegel’s Bauhaus-inspired approach, combining functional clarity with refined craftsmanship. The chair features a dark-stained beech frame that has developed a beautiful, even patina over time, paired with a seat and backrest woven in papercord, offering both comfort and visual lightness. As a renowned Danish architect and designer, Schlegel played an important role in introducing modernist principles to Danish furniture design from the 1930s onwards, and this chair stands as a strong example of his early work. The papercord remains in good condition, and the overall piece shows signs of age consistent with careful use, enhancing its authentic character. A rare and elegant seating piece suited to both classic and modern interiors.
