A rare double-sided decorative object by Paolo De Poli, showcasing the Italian artist and designer’s celebrated mastery of vitreous enamel on hammered copper. Flat in profile yet exceptionally rich in colour and surface, the piece reflects the applied arts tradition championed in 20th-century Italian design, particularly through De Poli’s close association with Gio Ponti. Successive layers of vitreous enamel were fired onto the hand-worked copper, producing remarkable depth, luminosity and subtle variations across the surface. Designed to be appreciated from both sides, this unusual configuration gives the object a distinctly sculptural presence despite its slender profile. The piece is signed “De Poli” on the front face and is preserved in excellent condition, with no visible defects or restoration. A rare collector’s object combining Italian craftsmanship, decorative art and sculptural experimentation.
