A substantial dining table designed by Jean Batenburg for MI, Belgium, circa 1969, showcasing the robust architectural character of late 1960s Belgian Modernism. Crafted from dark-stained oak, the table features a restrained rectangular frame, broad end supports and a long low stretcher, while the richly figured grain remains visible beneath the almost black finish. Four discreet drawers, two on each side, are integrated beneath the tabletop and feature traditional dovetail construction, highlighting the quality craftsmanship. The original finish has developed an attractive patina, with edge wear revealing warmer oak beneath alongside surface scratches, small marks and minor dents consistent with age. Part of a complete matching Jean Batenburg dining room suite. Dimensions: W 210 × D 75 × H 75 cm.
