This Mid-Century Modern commode by Mastercraft is a distinctive example of the brand’s decorative metal-clad furniture produced during the 1970s. Designed as a statement storage piece, it reflects the era’s blend of modern form with ornamental and globally inspired detailing. The commode is constructed in wood and fully clad in brass, featuring an Asian-inspired motif that gives the surface depth, texture, and visual richness. The warm metallic finish enhances the cabinet’s architectural presence while maintaining a refined, sculptural quality. Mastercraft was particularly known for this technique, combining traditional cabinetry with luxurious metal overlays to create pieces that were both functional and highly decorative. Manufactured in the United States, the commode aligns with Mastercraft’s reputation for producing high-end furnishings for sophisticated residential and commercial interiors. The piece is offered in good vintage condition, with visible wear consistent with age and use, including surface patina typical of brass-clad furniture, while retaining its original character and structural integrity.
