A striking Cassiopée pendant lamp designed by Max Sauze and produced by Max Sauze Studio, France, around 1970. One of the designer's most iconic lighting creations, the Cassiopée perfectly reflects Sauze's vision of transforming functional lighting into sculptural works of art through geometric compositions and innovative use of industrial materials. The lamp is constructed from seven tiers of curved aluminium slats suspended within a delicate galvanised steel wire cube, creating an architectural form that conceals the central light source while diffusing a warm, atmospheric glow through its layered lattice structure. The interplay of light, shadow and geometry gives the piece a remarkable sculptural presence whether illuminated or not. A celebrated example of French Space Age and Mid-Century Modern design, this highly collectible pendant is ideal for dining areas, living rooms or gallery-inspired interiors.
