An iconic Cassiopée pendant lamp designed by French designer Max Sauze around 1970 and produced by Max Sauze Studio, founded in 1968. Conceived as a “lighting sculpture,” this striking example features nine tiers of curved aluminium slats arranged within a delicate cubic galvanised steel wire structure. The layered geometric construction conceals the central light source while allowing illumination to escape through the lattice, producing a beautifully diffused ambient glow and dramatic interplay of light and shadow. Sauze’s innovative use of aluminium and geometry makes the Cassiopée a distinctive example of French Space Age and Mid-Century Modern lighting. Presented in good vintage condition with minor age-related wear and patina consistent with use.
