A striking Brutalist single-stem vase crafted in raku ceramic during the 1970s, distinguished by its raw texture, organic form and expressive surface. The narrow opening is designed to hold a single flower or branch, creating an elegant contrast between delicate botanical forms and the vase’s rugged sculptural character. Its crackled glaze and earthy tonal variations, characteristic of raku firing, give the ceramic a highly individual appearance and emphasise the unpredictable beauty of the material. The tactile surface and deliberately irregular form reflect the Brutalist emphasis on materiality and craftsmanship while also complementing Mid-Century Modern and Organic Modern interiors. Equally compelling displayed empty as a small ceramic sculpture, the vase is presented in excellent vintage condition, retaining its original character with minimal signs of age and use.
