This rare Bauhaus tubular steel daybed was designed by Bruno Weil in the early 1930s and produced by Thonet during a defining period of European modernist furniture design. Reflecting Bauhaus principles of functional clarity, industrial production and reduced geometric form, the daybed features a chromed tubular steel frame bent in a continuous line to create both the supporting structure and side rails. The generously proportioned upholstered surface appears visually suspended within the frame, emphasizing its light architectural character. Preserved in original, unrestored condition, the piece retains its period striped textile and original chrome with light, age-appropriate wear. A collectible example of 1930s Bauhaus furniture, ideal as a daybed or statement piece in a modernist interior.
