An iconic Bibibibi table lamp designed by Ingo Maurer in 1982, capturing the playful and experimental spirit of 1980s Postmodern design. Its zoomorphic form combines a circular white porcelain base with bright red moulded plastic legs, an adjustable semi-spherical shade in matte black lacquered metal and natural feathers that move gently with surrounding air. Light is directed downwards onto the porcelain plate, creating a soft ambient glow while allowing the base to function as a practical vide-poche for small objects. Blurring the boundaries between functional lighting, sculpture and humour, Bibibibi reflects Maurer’s distinctive approach to transforming unexpected everyday elements into expressive design. The adjustable shade allows the direction of light to be modified as required. This original 1980s example is signed Ingo Maurer on the porcelain base.
