This African Bamileke low stool from Cameroon, dating to the 1970s, is a sculptural example of traditional hand carved design. Characterized by its rhythmic geometric relief and circular form, the stool reflects the rich craftsmanship associated with Bamileke carving traditions. At some point it has been ebonised in a deep glossy black finish, giving the piece a bold and refined presence while highlighting the intricate carved detailing. Due to this later finish, precise dating is difficult, though the form and construction align with 1970s examples. The dark surface enhances its sculptural quality, making it equally suitable as a low stool, side table or decorative accent. A striking and characterful piece that adds texture and cultural depth to both contemporary and eclectic interiors.
