This antique wooden table was crafted in France in the late 18th to early 19th century and showcases the character and craftsmanship of early vernacular furniture. The tabletop is made from a single solid plank of wood, giving the piece a strong, authentic presence. A particularly unique feature is the pair of concealed side drawers on both ends, ingeniously opened by sliding the front panels sideways, an uncommon and highly practical design detail. Due to the limited clearance between the floor and the underside of the top, the table is best suited as a side table or centre table rather than standard dining use, making it ideal for displaying ceramics, kitchenware, books, or large floral arrangements. The table is in solid, good condition, with a professionally executed repair to the tabletop visible as a lighter wood insert. The sides and legs show old woodworm holes, which have been fully treated and are no longer active, adding to the piece’s authentic antique character.
