This pair of Wilhelmina chairs was designed in the 1950s by Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara for Laukkanpuu and is a refined example of postwar Scandinavian modern design. The chairs are crafted from laminated birch combined with black lacquered laminated plywood, a material contrast that highlights Tapiovaara’s focus on structure, clarity, and functional elegance. The sculptural yet restrained form reflects his human centred approach to seating, balancing comfort with architectural precision. The chairs remain in very good original condition, showing only minor signs of wear consistent with age and careful use. Offered as a matching pair, with two sets available in total, they are priced per set but can also be sold individually if desired. A timeless and highly collectible design suited to both dining and living spaces.
