This mid-century modern ashtray or catchall features a thick, round body finished in a striking burl wood veneer. The design, reminiscent of the work of Tomasso Barbi, highlights the unique, swirling grain of the wood, which retains a warm, natural patina consistent with its age. It has a solid and robust cylindrical construction.
A sculptural Italian Mid-Century Modern ashtray or catchall dating from the 1970s, distinguished by its substantial cylindrical form and richly figured burl wood veneer. Reminiscent of the decorative designs associated with Tommaso Barbi, the piece allows the expressive natural material to become its primary ornament, with swirling grain patterns, warm tonal variations and a naturally developed patina covering the rounded body.
