A beautifully hand-painted majolica amphora from Orvieto, Italy, dating from the 1960s and signed “NP / Orvieto” on the underside. Rooted in Umbria’s centuries-old ceramic tradition, the vase features a rounded body with elegant twin handles and an expressive composition of polychrome arabesques, scrolling foliage and ornamental motifs. Rich, saturated colours and layered glazes are complemented by finely incised graffito decoration, highlighting the artisanal character of the piece and the enduring influence of historic Orvieto pottery. The generous 14.5 cm opening makes the amphora suitable for displaying flowers or branches, while its sculptural proportions allow it to stand equally well as a decorative object or table centerpiece.
