A distinctive Dutch lounge chair produced by Rohé Noordwolde during the 1950s–60s, with the design attributed to Arnold Bueno de Mesquita. The chair features a sculptural rattan basket seat supported by a minimalist black metal frame, creating an expressive contrast between natural woven material and industrial structure. Its open, enveloping form reflects the experimental character of Dutch Mid-Century Modern design, while Rohé Noordwolde’s expertise in rattan furniture is evident in the carefully shaped basket construction. Light and architectural at the same time, the chair makes a striking accent in Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern or contemporary interiors. The attribution to Bueno de Mesquita remains unconfirmed. Presented in good vintage condition, with age-related wear including some missing pieces of rattan and patina to the metal frame, consistent with its history and use.
