A versatile GE258 sofa bed designed by Hans J. Wegner for Getama in Denmark during the 1950s. Crafted from solid oak, the piece reflects Wegner’s characteristic combination of clean lines, refined craftsmanship and practical functionality. By lifting the backrest, the sofa converts into a comfortable daybed, while a concealed compartment behind the backrest provides convenient storage for bedding. The original roller sheet can be pulled out to cover and protect the seat upholstery when used as a bed, adding another thoughtful functional detail. Newly reupholstered and sturdily constructed, this exceptional Danish modern sofa is ideal for Mid Century Modern, Scandinavian and contemporary interiors. Presented in very good vintage condition.
