Striking lounge chair designed in the 1970s by Swedish designer Johan Bertil Häggström for IKEA, a rare example of the brand’s Bauhaus-inspired experiments. The continuous chrome-plated tubular steel frame forms the armrests, sides, and base in a single flowing line, supporting a taut black fabric sling and generously upholstered cushions. Covered in smooth black leather, the cushions create soft, slightly sloping armrests and a deep, inviting seat, combining comfort with a floating, architectural presence. The contrast of supple leather and cool steel echoes Bauhaus modernism, yet with a softer, homelier character typical of IKEA’s progressive 1970s series. In very good vintage condition: chrome frame is clean with minimal surface scratches, fabric taut and intact, and leather supple with light creasing and an even patina but no damage. Dimensions: L107 × W79 × H78 cm; seat height 41 cm.
