An iconic French mid-century design, this set of “Language” dining chairs, also known as “Tongue” chairs, was created in 1954 by Joseph-André Motte for Steiner. Part of his celebrated 771/770 series, the chairs feature a shaped metal frame with Motte’s signature twisted feet and rounded seats, where the backrest and seat share the same sculptural form. These examples retain their original green upholstery, with solid structures suitable for immediate use or reupholstery projects. A rare opportunity to acquire pieces by one of France’s most important postwar designers, blending functional elegance with unmistakable modernist character.
