The plate bears the marking "II," indicating that this seat was part of the second-class cars—an important detail for collectors. The seat is mounted on an arched metal foot, enhancing its industrial aesthetic.
The Sprague-Thompson metro system, which introduced metal cars instead of wood in 1908, was a pioneering project in public transportation. The system remained operational until 1983, earning historical monument status in 1998.
