A rare “Cactus” floor lamp by Carlo Nason for Mazzega, Italy, 1970s. This sculptural design features a vertical metal frame reinforced with crossbars, supporting four evenly spaced light sources and twenty-five suspended Murano glass leaves. Crafted using the ghiaccio technique, the leaves reveal a crackled, ice-like texture sealed beneath a smooth surface. In this striking yellow version, the glass glows with a soft amber hue when lit, while daylight brings out a warm golden tone. Adjustable screws allow the leaves, small, medium, and large, to be positioned closer or further from the frame, enhancing its botanical silhouette. Bold, architectural, and richly detailed, the lamp embodies Nason’s modernist vision and collaboration with Mazzega. Featured in Mazzega Catalogue #7, it remains in very good vintage condition with light oxidation on the frame and minor wear to three leaves. A vivid collector’s piece of Italian design.
