Defined by its minimalist tubular steel structure, the chair reflects the progressive functionalist thinking that shaped Dutch furniture design during the 1930s. HOPMI experimented with demountable tubular steel furniture, developing pieces that could be efficiently produced, transported and assembled from separate components. Grimmon had previously collaborated with Hermann Friedrich Mertens on furniture for UMS, later known as Pastoe, also produced in association with HOPMI. The high chair’s restrained geometry and exposed construction give it a remarkably modern appearance for its age, while its rarity makes it particularly interesting for collectors of Dutch Modernism and pre-war design. Presented in good original vintage condition, with age-related patina to the frame and some small marks to the fabric, consistent with its history and use.","brand":"studioTOUT","offers":[{"title":"Product","offer_id":54340973756732,"sku":"NL_11739","price":785.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0829\/9390\/5980\/files\/rare_1936_childrens_tubular_steel_high_chair_by_ad_grimmon_for_hopmi_netherlands_first.png?v=1788426095","url":"https:\/\/curiouz.com\/products\/rare-1936-children-s-tubular-steel-high-chair-by-ad-grimmon-for-hopmi-netherlands","provider":"Curiouz","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
