They feature black saddle leather upholstery and a lacquered pale wood structure (ash).\r\n\r\nRemarkable condition for the age. Chairs have been well cared for. Some impressions into the saddle leather as to be expected, eg. keys in pocket, studs on jeans etc. Ask about our re-pigmentation service if you want \"as new\". Otherwise, the current completely original condition is about as good as it gets.\r\n\r\nAfra and Tobia Scarpa designed the 121 chair in 1965. A sketch from 1943 made by Carlo Scarpa (Tobia’s father) inspired its shape. Two thin plywood “petals” compose the seat and the backrest. They are upholstered in black saddle leather. The back has cut in the lower part, required due to a reinforcement that reacts to torsion stress, which is strongest at this point. Furthermore, the basis is a solid wood double trestle. Eight screws link it to the seat and the backrest.\r\n\r\nModel 121 was studied as a dining chair matching the 778 extensible table. Afra (1937-2011) \u0026amp; Tobia (1935-) Scarpa both studied at the Venice Institute of Architecture. Tobia first worked for the Italian glass manufacturer Venini. From 1960 on, the couple opened their own design office. Their work includes architecture and everyday items like furniture and clothing. Tobia and Afra designed for numerous major Italian and international companies like Flos, Gavina, B\u0026amp;B Italia, Cassina, Knoll International, and many interior projects for numerous companies worldwide.","brand":"DA Lives Here","offers":[{"title":"Product","offer_id":52879168176444,"sku":"DE_2292","price":24000.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0829\/9390\/5980\/files\/set_of_8_scarpa_121_chairs_in_black_leather_pale_wood_for_cassina_italy_1960s_first.png?v=1773671465"},{"product_id":"set-of-9-brass-wall-sconces-in-motoko-style-france-1960s-1970s","title":"Set of 9 Brass Wall Sconces in Motoko Style, France 1960s–1970s","description":"This set of nine vintage wall sconces in brass reflects the refined elegance of Mid Century lighting design, inspired by the distinctive Motoko style. Originally part of a matching set of twelve from a single home, the chairs have been carefully restored with deep cleaning, light sanding and an oiled wood finish. The seats and backrests have been newly upholstered in soft, light-coloured bouclé fabric, providing a refined contrast to the robust pine construction. All chairs are structurally sound, stable and ready for immediate use, with only minor marks consistent with age. Ideal for Scandinavian, Mid-Century Modern or contemporary dining interiors.
